About a month ago, I moved my personal web site and blog to GitHub Pages. Using Jekyll for blogging and publishing other content is totally awesome. However, I haven’t found a way to automatically generate an Atom or RSS feed for my blog. Until now, that is.
My first attempt at setting up a feed was FeedBurner. I couldn’t figure out how to use it, at least not for what I wanted to do. My next attempt was Yahoo! Pipes. I already had a post list at my GitHub Pages, and assumed it could be turned into a feed somewhow. I might have succeeded eventually, but Yahoo! Pipes was too painful to use on my netbook. My last attempt was generating an Atom feed with Jekyll, which actually worked like a charm. Oh, I ran into one problem. The feed page must have YAML front matter, or it won’t be processed by Jekyll.
The source of my feed page is here.
